| The Art of Gerben den Heeten |

"My name is Gerben den Heeten, I also work
under the name Black Eye Pictures, and I was born in a town near Amsterdam in
August 1971. I am currently working and living in Amsterdam. I've been drawing ever since I can
remember. As a child I was really obsessed by the art and making of
comicbooks. I learned a lot of skills by just copying them. Big names like
Storm, Asterix and Tintin were my favourites, but I also liked
superhero-stuff and everything from Disney.
After highschool I went to the
Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam, for a study Graphic Design. After
a couple of years I decided to leave, cause I could't get any satisfaction
anymore from designing, I just wanted to draw! I started to work as a
freelancer, and was picked up by a small agency. In those times I learned a lot
about the business, deadlines and working under pressure. When
the agency went broke, I tried to do it all on my own. Besides working as a
commercial artist for all sorts of clients, I also like to explore my more
darker side, resulting in comics and illustration of an explicit nature. I am
not ashamed making it, so you'll find both directions back on my website.
I've published that stuff in Hustler, PenthouseComix, Marquis and am currently
working for Eros Comix, making covers and comics for their
anthologies. I've allways wanted to make pin-up's, but there was allways
something else to do. So, a few years ago I started working on them.

For me the pin-up is the idealisation of the female figure as how I like to see
here at best in my imagination, strong, sexy, sometimes dominant,
teasing and unreachable! I'm making 'normal' pinups as well as kinky ones,
linking to the dark world of fetishism and BDSM...For me it's a great
honour to be part of this site, among some of the best pin-up artists of all
time!" |
